What’s your career background?
I’m a retired United States Army Sergeant First Class. Before joining the Army, I worked as a dispatcher for a medical supplies delivery subcontractor, ensuring critical deliveries ran smoothly and on time.
Where did the idea for your business come from?
Since 2012, I’ve been helping people overcome their financial challenges, master budgets, tackle debt, improve credit, build savings, and become first-time homeowners. Witnessing their excitement when they hit financial milestones is deeply fulfilling and reminds me that I’m making a meaningful difference.
After a career-ending accident, I knew a traditional full-time job might hinder my recovery. So, I asked myself, “What else am I great at that can also make an impact?” The answer was financial coaching. Seeing Tiffany “The Budgetnista” transform lives through financial literacy affirmed that this was my calling, and I pursued it wholeheartedly.
How did you move from idea to actual business?
I started with a Facebook group and an Instagram page, sharing tips and knowledge. Quickly realizing how much I didn’t know about running an online business, I hired a coach who helped me learn the ropes and build a sustainable foundation.
What’s your USP?
Since starting this business in 2019, I have evolved greatly. My USP is that I empower ambitious professionals and entrepreneurs to break free from the paycheck-to-debt cycle, heal their relationship with money, and achieve financial freedom without sacrificing the lifestyle they love. It’s about creating financial freedom with soul.
Who’s your target audience?
My audience comprises ambitious professionals and entrepreneurs who crave more freedom, wealth, and joy in life but feel stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to start.
How do you spread the word about what you do?
Through social media, networking events, podcasts, and articles. This year, I’m expanding into conferences and corporate events to amplify my reach together with publicity.
What’s been your most successful marketing strategy?
Going live on social media has been a game-changer as this allows me to connect directly with my audience, share valuable insights, and build trust in real-time.
What’s been the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome?
My mindset. For years, I struggled with rejection issues, which felt like kryptonite in business. Over time, I prioritized healing and overcame the fear of rejection before sharing my message.
And your proudest moment so far?
Replacing my W2 income with business revenue was a milestone, but my proudest moments are always client wins. For example, one of my clients paid off $60,000 in debt and bought a rental property in the same year. Or when another client saved $20,000 for the first time ever. That’s the kind of impact I’m here for.
Why is work so important to you?
This work is so important to me because I believe everyone deserves a great life filled with freedom, happiness, and abundance. My work helps people uncover and remove obstacles to achieve their version of that. Supporting clients as they “sing their song” and live authentically and that’s what drives me every day.
Who inspires you?
Lisa Nichols. Her story, resilience, and commitment to stretching herself inspire me to show up and tap into my own gifts daily.
How do you balance your work with your family?
It’s just me for now, so I have the flexibility to work as much or as little as I want, but I always make time for travel and brunch with the girls to recharge and stay connected.
What are your three top pieces of advice for someone wanting to do something similar?
My top three pieces of advice are:
- Only pursue this work if you genuinely love helping others succeed.
- Prioritize healing your traumas and wounds before starting a business, your mindset will make or break you.
- This is not something you want to do alone, so be willing to invest in sitting in the right rooms and building the best connections.
